During a LEAP Home Visit, if a LEAP assessor sees an old (and therefore energy inefficient) ‘white good’ appliance, they can sometimes arrange for these to be replaced, free of charge, with a new, highly efficient replacement.
This scheme used to be known as “HEART” (Home Energy Appliance ReplacemenT) under previous branding.
- A LEAP assessor cannot assist a resident to receive a white good if there isn’t an existing appliance available to be removed as part of the scheme.
- A LEAP assessor cannot assist with the replacement of built-in appliances.
- A LEAP assessor cannot assist if they’re unable to inspect the pipework to ensure the existing appliance can easily be removed by the team who make the swap.
Client eligibility is as follows

Anyone receiving one of the following:
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Income Support
- Pension Guarantee Credit
- Child Tax Credit / Working Tax Credit
