Aim:
To help improve the health of residents suffering, or potentially at risk, from living in cold homes as well as reduce fuel poverty and lower carbon emissions.
Objective:
Increase the insulation levels and quality of heating in qualifying households.
What Help is available?
- Energy efficiency advice by telephone
- A home visit by an energy efficiency advisor
- Grants for insulation/draught proofing
- Grants towards Heating repair/ replacement
Target area;
The scheme covers the whole of Sefton Borough Council area.
Criteria for qualification:
People who have health problems on low incomes or in receipt of a state benefit who either privately rent or own their own homes.
Duration and funding of project:
The project has been in existence for 10 years and is funded by Sefton Borough Council.
Outputs achieved:
Advice provided by the project includes: home insulation and energy efficiency measures for householders. Referrals to other agencies such as the Fire Service, and the Department of Work and Pensions.
Over 250 households in Sefton benefitted from SEARCH grants and advice during 2011-2012.
