Exclusive Energy Deals from Merseyside Collective Switch

February 25, 2016

Offers are now in for the Merseyside Collective Switch and organisers are pleased to announce they have negotiated exclusive, market beating offers on behalf of Merseyside residents.

Over 7,000 local people have taken part in this round of the Merseyside Collective Switch to get a better deal on their energy bills, which has led to a range of attractive offers being secured from energy suppliers.

The winning tariff is from E.on with a 1 year fixed monthly direct debit at the average annual cost of £770. This exclusive market beating deal has average savings of £350 per household. E.on have also offered exclusive market beating tariffs for Economy 7 and Pay on Receipt of Bill customers. Deals have also been secured for prepayment customers with an offer from OVO Energy, and we are thrilled to have a winning Green Energy deal from OVO Energy.

The offers are available as part of a full market comparison, so householders can see how much they could save and choose the tariff that is best for them. The scheme’s switching partner, energyhelpline, are on hand to make the switching process easy.

The scheme is organised by local charity, Energy Projects Plus, together with the six Merseyside local authorities and Viridis. It aims to reduce people’s energy bills through negotiating cheaper tariffs from energy suppliers and making it easier for people to switch.

Switching levels are currently at their highest levels for four years, according to Ofgem. The Merseyside Collective Switch is proud to have been a part of movement to make switching easier, saving Merseyside residents over £760,000 off their fuel bills since its launch in 2013.

The offers are only available until Monday 14th March so if you have registered for this round or any of our previous switching rounds, don’t delay switch today.

If you didn’t register in time, you won’t be able to switch to the exclusive offers tariffs, but you can still do a full market comparison at www.energyhelpline.com/lcrcollectiveswitch, or call the Save Energy Advice Line on 0800 043 0151 to request a call from a switching advisor.

The next round of the Merseyside Collective Switch is now open. Merseyside residents are invited to register their interest and see how much they could save on their energy bills through taking part.

Mr Stan Parker from Widnes took part in the collective switch and saved £341 a year on his energy bills. He said: “It was really quick and easy to switch through the Merseyside Collective Switch. I was provided with clear information and support every step of the way and I am thrilled to be saving such a significant amount on my fuel bills”.

Collective switching works by asking people to register their interest then uses collective buying power to negotiate an exclusive tariff from energy suppliers. The exclusive tariff is only available to those who register for the collective switch. Previous rounds of the switch have attracted exclusive offers from both the large and smaller suppliers and some tariffs have been the best on the market.

In addition to the Collective Switch offer tariff, participants are welcome to switch to any tariff on the market to find the deal that’s right for them, with tariffs shown against each other for comparison.

The scheme aims to make it easier and safer to switch supplier, and advisors are on hand to offer free and impartial help every step of the way.

Peter Owen, Chief Executive of Energy Projects Plus said “As we hit the colder months, and our energy use increases, now is a great time to check if we are on the tariff best for us. The Collective Switch has been created to make checking as simple and straightforward as possible, with support available at all stages. I would encourage everyone to join in and see how much they could save.”

Residents are invited to register their interest in the collective switch by Sunday 14th February in order to receive information about the exclusive tariffs. It’s free to join, and there is no obligation to switch once the offers are released.

To join the Merseyside Collective Switch simply register online at  or call the local Save Energy Advice Line on Freephone 0800 043 0151, where free and impartial help and advice about saving energy at home is also available.

Happy Switchers

September 23, 2015

As we enter autumn winter fuel bills can become a worry for many Merseyside residents, with many having to make sacrifices in order to pay their energy bills. Last week we visited Mrs Dorothy Spencer, a Magenta tenant who was kind enough to share her experiences of taking part in the last Merseyside Collective Switch.

Following an accident which left Dorothy wheelchair bound she was struggling to balance paying for her carer and keeping herself warm in her home. She became aware of the switch through her carer and found it quick, easy and worthwhile.

Ms Spencer said ”I was so made up when I switched, the savings were brilliant. With all the cuts I was worrying where to save money, the savings have covered the cuts I had.”
