Warmth4All is a partnership project that was created to provide practical support to enable people to keep their homes warm at an affordable price. Funded by Scottish Power Energy People Trust the project was aimed primarily at established faith communities within Halton, Knowsley and Liverpool that have the highest instances of people living in fuel poverty.
Community Engagement
By engaging with the faith community through our project partners Faiths4Change and Parish Power, we were able to speak to people who we might not otherwise have been able to reach. Using our many years of experience in community event delivery, we delivered Warmth4All drop in sessions which gave practical support to residents to help them keep their homes warm at an affordable price. A series of private and confidential appointments were also available to allow attendees to discuss bills, benefits and fuel debts out of earshot of others.
We offered a wide range of support that addresses the four main ways to tackle fuel poverty:
- Saving energy: Advice on saving energy around the home, practical tips on using the heating and appliances.
- Reducing fuel bills: Practical support to help residents switch to a cheaper tariff, with referrals to the Liverpool City Region Collective Switch.
- Improving energy efficiency: Referrals for insulation and heating to local and national schemes, including ECO, Health Through Warmth and Liverpool Healthy Homes.
- Income maximisation: Support to maximise income is provided through benefit maximisation referrals, fuel debt relief referrals and general money advice.
If you were unable to attend our events and feel you could have benefited from the Warmth4all project, you can call the Save Energy Advice Line free on 0800 043 0151 for more information. Lines are open Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm
- Community Volunteer Training
We also offered a free volunteer training programme to establish a network of Community Volunteer Energy Champions who are equipped to advise their neighbours and clients on affordable warmth. This ensures a wider reach to additional beneficiaries and the sustainability of the programme beyond the funding period.
Outcomes
- Overall we reached a total of £101,051 of income maximisation for approximately 1,951 beneficiary households.
- Collectively, we saved a total of £43,750 for our clients through the Warmth4All project. Warmth4All beneficiaries received financial assistance from referrals made by us for a wide range of energy efficient measures and fuel debt relief.
*Included in this figure is the annual savings our project beneficiaries will receive from the energy efficiency measures installed in their homes. - One of our most successful outcomes of the Warmth4All Project was the development of strong relations with 5 Foodbanks that support vulnerable people across Widnes. This development has enabled us to reach out to thousands more people that suffer from fuel poverty.
Testimonial
“We have seen a lot of local people, who are struggling to put food on the table as well as heat their homes, being helped by the Energy Projects Plus team. The team is great to work with and their passion and commitment to helping people in fuel poverty is fantastic.”
Clare Bedford, Widnes Foodbank Manager
